The annual Pooch Parade will be held on Saturday, October 5th, from 9:00 am-Noon,
with the Parade, itself, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The fee for participating in the parade is $10 + one bag of dog food, with proceeds benefitting our local Sophie’s Circle pet rescue, feeding, and re-homing of dogs. Mandatory check-in for all participants (both pre-registered and newbies) will be between 9:00—9:45 a.m. Registration online is recommended (https://www.canalstreetnsb.com/event/blocktoberfest/).
There are six categories: 3 Costumed and 3 Au Natural, with 3 weight groups in each:
25 lbs and under, 26-50 lbs, and over 50 lbs. Dog handlers may be in costume to match their dogs in the Costumed category. Judging will be done between 9:00—11:45 a.m.
and prizes will be awarded for each of the six categories in Christmas Park following the parade. ALL participants will be given a “thank you” doggie bag of treats, as well.
Our thanks go out to the sponsors of this event: A & E Pet Resort, Beachwood Animal Clinic, Critters’ Cottage Pet Shop, and Janet Rabe-Meyer (Keller-Williams Realty), and to the Cub Scouts Pack #72, who will assist in the parade. Our thanks, too, to all of the volunteers and businesses who have given their time and generous gifts for this event.
There will also be a great raffle for gift baskets (some doggie themed, others delightfully human treasures) during the day. Chance tickets are available near Christmas Park at the corner of Canal Street and Live Oak.
Please join us for a great day of fun and festivities!
